Last Harbor Guide

Last Harbor zombie types

Every zombie variant we have spotted in the Last Harbor reveal trailer — runners, brutes, swimmers, screamers — with their AI patterns and our best-guess weaknesses.

Last Harbor's zombie roster has not been fully revealed, but the reveal trailer and press coverage have already shown at least four distinct zombie variants. This guide catalogs what we have seen, how they behave, and what we expect to see at launch based on tinyBuild's previous survival titles.

Runners

The default zombie in Last Harbor. Fast on land, average in water. They are drawn by sound and sight, and they form packs within 30 seconds of the first alert. Runners can be killed with one headshot from a crossbow or pistol, and they go down in 2–3 melee swings. They are the most common variant and the easiest to deal with if you keep your distance.

Brutes

Larger, slower, and very high HP. We have seen at least one brute-type zombie in the reveal trailer — a hulking figure in the background of a beach scene. Brutes typically take 6+ pistol rounds to kill, ignore small arms stun, and will demolish a wooden barricade in 2–3 hits. The counter is fire (Molotov), explosives (mine), or a Tier-2 melee weapon with a heavy-swing perk.

Swimmers

The most unique zombie to Last Harbor. Swimmers can cross water to board your boat. They are slow in the water (so you can outrun them) but fast once they reach the hull. A bow lantern forces them to surface behind your wake, and a spiked boom will punt them off the deck. Never sail at night without a light forward.

Screamers

Screamers do not attack — they scream. The scream is a directional alert that pulls every zombie in a 200m radius to your position. The counter is to kill screamers first, before they alert the pack. They are typically found in coastal towns and lighthouses, and they look identical to runners from a distance — listen for the high-pitched sound cue.

What we expect at launch

Based on tinyBuild's previous survival titles (Raft, Valheim publishing) and the official Steam store copy, we expect at least one more variant — possibly a "bloater" explosive type that detonates on death, and a "crawler" that hides under debris. We will update this page as more variants are revealed.

Quick checklist

  • Runners — fast, weak, common
  • Brutes — slow, very high HP, immune to stun
  • Swimmers — slow in water, board your boat
  • Screamers — alerts the pack, kill first
  • Unknown — possibly bloater and crawler variants
