Last Harbor crafting guide

Every confirmed Last Harbor crafting recipe, every workbench tier, and the materials you need to upgrade from cabin-crafting to machine-shop fabrication.

How crafting works in Last Harbor

Last Harbor uses a tiered workbench system. The first crafting station you will find is a small cabin workbench (T1) — usually in the captain's quarters of your starting boat. T1 lets you craft basic survival items, bandages, simple traps and a small storage crate.

To unlock T2, you need to build a boat workbench on the deck of your vessel. T2 covers all repair kits, hull upgrades, engine upgrades, ranged ammo and most traps. To unlock T3, you need to find an island with a machine shop — typically the largest commercial island in the archipelago.

Crafting materials

The materials economy in Last Harbor is split into seven primary categories. Knowing which ones are common and which are rare is the difference between a working boat and a dead one.

  • Wood — common, beach driftwood, light buildings
  • Cloth — common, residential buildings, shipwrecks
  • Metal — uncommon, vehicle wrecks, shipyards, machine shops
  • Rope — uncommon, fishing docks, boats
  • Oil / Fuel — rare, gas stations, fuel depots
  • Chemical — rare, hospitals, labs, pharmacies
  • Spring / Bolt / Wire — rare, machine shops, electronics

Best early-game crafting priorities

  1. Repair kit (hull) — craft 4 on day one. You will burn through them.
  2. Water purifier — saves you a 30-minute side trip to a freshwater stream.
  3. Storage crate (small) — carry capacity is the limiting factor on every run.
  4. Tripwire alarm — the cheapest early warning system for your deck.
  5. Bandage stack — never less than 10 in your hotbar.

What we still don't know

  • Whether custom recipes can be learned from in-game books.
  • Whether blueprints are a loot drop or a crafted item.
  • Whether mod tools will let players add their own recipes.
